Прибытие в Сан-Хоcе.

2 день

Действующий вулкан Поас в одноименном национальном парке, водопад Ла Паз и заброс в эколодж Yatama

3 день

Заповедный дождевой лес вокруг Ятамо: стеклянные лягушки, муравьеды и бесчисленные птицы.

4 день

Hацпарк Braulio Carillo, переезд на Карибское побережье в Пуэрто-Вьехо.

5 день

В гости к ленивцам в их питомник, а потом в мой любимый прибрежный нацпарк Cahuita.

6-7 день

Север карибского побережья, знаменитый нацпарк Tortuguero, куда добраться можно только по воде или по воздуху. 11 природных зон (!), огромное разнообразие животных и растений.

8 день

Переезд в центр страны, в город La Fortuna.

9 день

Поход на лавовый поток вулкана Ареналь, одного из самых молодых в коста-риканской вулканической зоне.

10 день

Нацпарк Tenorio у подножия вулкана: геотермальные источники, бурлящие грязевые котлы и прочая вулканическая активность.

11 день

Переезжаем на побережье Тихого океана.

12-13 день

нацпарк Ostional Wildlife Reserve и в нем arribada, уникальное явление, когда множество оливковых морских черепах выползает откладывать яйца на песчаный пляж Ostional, одно из немногих мест в мире где черепахи размножаются почти круглый год.

14 день

Alajuela, кофейная плантация Britt Coffee.

15 день

Отправление в Москву.

Day 1

Arrive to San Jose, transfer airport to hotel, explore San Jose on your own, options to visit Gold museum or Jade museum, Opera house, lunch/dinner in downtown on your own.
Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast at the Hotel, Travel to Poas Volcano National Park (open 7 am-2 pm) lecture by Daria Nikitina “Anatomy of Volcano”, hike through the cloud forest, home to many cloud forest birds including hummingbirds, tanagers, flycatchers, toucanets, Costa Rica’s national bird the clay-colored robin, and the resplendent quetzal to the crater (volcanic activity and emission permits), trail to lake Botos, extinct crater.
Trip to La Paz Waterfall, lunch at the Nature Park, explore the garden of hummingbirds, butterflies, hike to the water fall (may be not?)

Stay at Yatama ecolodge, nature hikes, bird watching.

Day 4

Visit to Braulio Carillo National Park
trip to Limon and Puerto Viejo, southeastern Costa Rica. Accommodation at Villas del Caribe. Explore the Caribbean coast, the town Puerto Viejo, black-sand beaches, culture, hippie. About 30-40% of the local population there are African Caribbean, descendants from Jamaican workers that arrived here just over a century ago. Their presence adds a very interesting vibe to the local culture. Reggie music.

Day 5

Early breakfast, 8 am visit Sloth Sanctuary (ButtercupTour), take a canoe tour to explore sloth habitat.
Cahuita National Park, one of the oldest national parks of Costa Rica, it was founded in 1970 to protect the coral reef. White sand beaches, coconut palms, turquoise sea and coral reef, shipwreck. Hiking, swimming and snorkeling.
Free time to explore the town, local culture and food.

Day 6-7

Travel to Tortuguero National Park, the Limón Province of northeastern Costa Rica. The park can only be reached by boat or plane. The park has incredible biological variety, due to the existence within the reserve of eleven different habitats, including rainforest, swamps, beaches, and lagoons. Its beaches are key nesting ground for endangered sea turtles, such as Hawksbill, Loggerheads, Green and Leatherbacks (that come ashore to from February through May).
Trip includes 3 days/2 night.

Day 8

Travel to La Fortuna, accommodation in La Fortuna.

Day 9

Hike to Arenal Volcano lava flow, discuss the most recent eruption and its aftermath. Reach a monitoring site to collect samples. Daria Nikitina will explain the post-eruption processes and landscape recovery, introduce to on-going research project monitoring soil development on the fresh lava and pyroclastic flows of Arenal and some results.

Day 10

Early morning start to visit Tenorio National Park, hike along the Celeste River that runs through the center of the park. The river is names for its blue hue created as copper sulfate and colloidal silica reacts with sulfur in the merging river. Glowing azure waterfalls and clear rivers that run blue waters are only some of what you’ll see on the trails weaving through Tenorio National Park. Other intrigues include thermal geysers, bubbling mud pots, and hot springs along two trails.
Options:
Hike the trails: hour and a half journey to get to one of the park’s most gorgeous water-filled basins. Along the way, visitors will discover scenic vistas, stunning volcanic formations, and the incredible Celeste River.
Bird and Wildlife Watching: Tenorio offers an astounding habitat for flora and fauna. Visitors frequently spot spider monkeys, pumas, tapirs, howler monkeys and white-faced monkeys, collared peccaries, hawks, turkey vultures as well as the occasional ocelot and king vulture.

Day 11

Spend a morning in Bijagua de Upala Options: suspension bridges trail
adventure tours, bird watching, hiking, visit Tapir Valley Nature Reserve,
Recuperate.
Transfer to the Pacific coast
Accommodation in Nosara or Playa Pelada.

Day 12-13

Experience arribada, at Ostional Wildlife Reserve, the beach of Ostional it is one of the two most important areas in the world for nesting of the of the marine turtle Lepidochelys olivacea (Olive Ridley) or Lora as it is known locally. The turtles come to nest to Ostional Beach all year round.
Explore the coast, relax at the beach/swim, explore the town or visit Samara to spend afternoon/evening.
Accommodation in Nosara or Playa Pelada.

Day 14

Leave for San Jose
Visit Britt Coffee Plantation, coffee tour (time permits)
Overnight in Alajuela.

Day 15

Departure back to Moscow.
